Hyundai is ending the year on a high note, thriving while many automakers face challenges. SUVs remain popular, but the spotlight is on the Sonata, which saw a 200% sales boost in November and a 46% rise this year. Sedans are far from over!
The Hyundai Sonata is showing impressive year-over-year growth in North America, outpacing other models in the lineup. A refreshed 2024 design, featuring cleaner and straighter lines, has been well-received by buyers. With a noticeable sales boost in the latter half of the year as the updated models hit dealerships, projections suggest the Sonata could reach 70,000 units sold by year’s end. This would place it well ahead of models like the Santa Cruz and Venue, which are facing slower sales.
Hyundai’s Elantra is ending 2024 on a strong note with sales up 29% in November. Despite a slow start to the year, it has sold 125,113 units through November and could reach 140,000 by year-end. The refreshed design, similar to the Sonata, is clearly resonating with buyers. This makes the Elantra Hyundai’s second-best-selling vehicle, following the Santa Fe, which has seen an 11% decline in sales over the same period.
Hyundai is making strides in the EV market, with Ioniq 5 sales rising 30% to 39,805 units by November, outpacing models like the Santa Cruz. Hybrid sales also soared 104%, including a remarkable 227% increase for the Tucson hybrid.
“Customers are drawn to Hyundai’s wide range of vehicles that cater to various needs,” said Hyundai Motor America CEO Randy Parker. “The U.S.-built Ioniq 9 debut has generated great excitement, and we’re thrilled to launch it next year.”
