Acura’s ZDX marked their first electric vehicle, but this year’s Monterey Car Week introduces a new electric SUV concept. Unlike the ZDX, this one features a fresh EV platform.
Acura’s new Performance EV concept shows off a sleek, coupe-like SUV with a long wheelbase and bold design. Its sharp front end and wide headlights give it a unique look, somewhat reminiscent of modern Buicks.
The Performance EV concept features a stylish, coupe-like design with a full-width rear light bar and 23-inch wheels, showcasing neon green brake accents.
Acura’s first electric SUV will be built on its own EV platform, not GM’s Ultium, and will be produced at Honda’s EV Hub in Marysville, Ohio. Specific details aren’t available yet.
“The Acura Performance EV Concept represents a new chapter for Acura, showcasing what’s possible with their latest electric vehicle platform. Dave Marek, Acura Design Executive, highlights that this concept takes Acura’s design to new heights and hints at future design trends for the brand. It’s all about pushing boundaries and setting the stage for upcoming models.”
Acura has introduced its fifth concept at Monterey Car Week. Previous concepts include the NSX in 2013, the Precision in 2016, the Type S in 2019, and the Precision EV in 2022. We’re confident this one will also make it to production.
